Welcome to Emmaus

an introduction to our faith

A Church Home for All

We are an open and inclusive Episcopal community in Surprise, Arizona seeking everyone who wishes to live the Gospel commandment to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself. Serving all of our neighbors by honoring and affirming the gifts given to every individual of any age, race, gender, sexual orientation, sexual identity, ethnicity, religion, marital status, employment status, economic status, political affiliation, and personal ability.

Rooted in thousands of years of apostolic tradition, and seeking to embrace the kind of radical love modeled by Christ himself, the Emmaus community strives to offer the calm of tradition in a busy and changing modern world.Whether you are a lifelong Episcopalian, new to the Episcopal Church, "so done" with "church", a new Christian, are from another faith background, or no faith background, we offer a chance to worship, study, reflect, and question in an open and supportive community.

In short, we promise:
Real People. Real Life. Real Faith.

Worship with us each Sunday: 4pm

Because our community is based in traditional liturgical worship and interactive discussion,
our weekly services are held via Zoom. Service bulletins and links to Sunday services are posted at: www.Facebook.com/EmmausEpiscopal.
This is a public page and is available whether or not you have (or use) a Facebook account.

When will our church reopen it's doors?

Per the guidance of our bishop, Episcopal churches in the Diocese of Arizona will remain closed until:
  • The rate of new Covid-19 infections falls significantly for fourteen consecutive days,
  • A thorough plan for reopening safely has been submitted to and approved by our bishop

Emmaus leadership would like to share that while we are not currently authorized to resume in-person worship due to increasing new infections, we are beginning to prepare a plan for eventual return. This will take significant time. The many aspects of worship and public gathering must all be considered within our specific context. We ask for patience and invite questions. And, until we are able to gather again in person, we invite everyone to join with us remotely for  worship, studies, youth and young adult gatherings, and outreach/service opportunities.
